Best Used Smartwatch to Buy in 2026
Used smartwatches are one of the best deals in electronics. Unlike phones, most people upgrade watches for cosmetic reasons — not because the old one stopped working. A 2-year-old Apple Watch still gets software updates, tracks health metrics accurately, and lasts all day on a charge. You just save 40–60%.
We ranked every major smartwatch by real eBay selling prices, remaining software support, and feature set per dollar.

| 7 | Apple Watch Series 7 (45mm) | $135–160 | Discontinued | — | Still a solid pick |
#1: Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen — Best Overall Value
The SE 2nd Gen has the same chip as the Series 8 (S8 processor), gets the same watchOS updates, and includes crash detection and heart rate monitoring. It’s missing always-on display and blood oxygen — features most people don’t use daily.
At $120–145 used, it’s the sweet spot: 90% of the Apple Watch experience for under $150.
- Software support: Expected through at least 2028 (watchOS updates)
- Battery: 18 hours (same as when new; watch batteries don’t degrade as fast as phones)
- What to check: Screen for scratches (no sapphire crystal on SE), battery health in Settings
#2: Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 — Best for Android
If you use an Android phone, the Galaxy Watch 5 is your best bet. It runs Wear OS with Samsung’s One UI Watch overlay, has a bioelectrical impedance sensor for body composition, and works with Google Assistant and Samsung’s own Bixby.
At $85–110 used, it’s cheaper than any new smartwatch worth buying.
#3: Apple Watch Series 8 — Best Premium Value
The Series 8 adds always-on display, blood oxygen, ECG, and temperature sensing over the SE. If those features matter to you (especially ECG for heart health monitoring), the $165–195 used price is a steal compared to $399 new.
#4: Google Pixel Watch — Biggest Percentage Discount
The original Pixel Watch dropped from $349 to under $100 used — a 73–79% discount. It’s still a good watch with a beautiful circular AMOLED display and full Fitbit integration. The main downside is battery life (about 24 hours, tight for a watch).
Warning: The Pixel Watch 1st Gen won’t get Wear OS updates past 2025. Buy for the hardware, not future software.
What to Check Before Buying
- Activation Lock (Apple Watch): If the seller didn’t remove their Apple ID, you can’t use the watch. Ask the seller to confirm it’s unpaired and Activation Lock is off. If they can’t prove it, skip.
- Battery health: On Apple Watch, go to Settings → Battery → Battery Health. Anything above 80% is fine. Below 80%, Apple may replace the battery for $99 — factor that into your price.
- Screen scratches: The SE and Series 7 use Ion-X glass (scratches easily). Series 8+ and Ultra use sapphire crystal (very scratch-resistant). Ask for close-up photos of the screen.
- Band compatibility: All Apple Watches 38/40/41mm use the same bands. All 42/44/45/49mm use the same bands. Don’t pay extra for a fancy band — buy the cheapest watch and a separate band.
- Cellular vs. GPS-only: Cellular models cost $30–50 more used but require a $10/month carrier plan. Unless you run without your phone, GPS-only is the better deal.
Watches to Avoid
- Apple Watch Series 3: Dropped from watchOS support. Can’t install most apps. Not worth $50.
- Any Fitbit Versa: Fitbit is sunsetting standalone Versa features in favor of Pixel Watch. Limited future.
- Galaxy Watch 4 Classic: The rotating bezel is great, but it’s only $20–30 less than the Watch 5, which has better battery and sensors.
- Any “smart watch” under $30: These are unbranded Chinese devices with no app ecosystem. They tell time and count steps inaccurately.
